According to the American Heart Association, nearly one-half of adults have high blood pressure. And while most people know blood pressure returns two numbers, do you know what they mean?
Systolic (the first number) measures the pressure against the artery walls with each heartbeat.
Diastolic (the lower number) measures the pressure between beats.
An elevated reading in either number can be used to diagnose high blood pressure. If your reading shows an elevated blood pressure, our providers will work with you to design a treatment plan which may include lifestyle modifications and/or medication.
