Dr. Kathryn Ryan, our Newest Family Practice Doctor, grew up right here in Anchorage. Passionate about preventative health care and exercise as medicine, she believes in treating the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. Known for her gentle nature and nurturing instincts, Dr. Ryan enjoys caring for a full spectrum of patients from infants to elders.
A graduate of Boston’s Simmons College, Dr. Ryan initially received a degree in Studio Art. After running a wine store in Boston for two years, the draw of Alaska and family brought her back home. Working at Providence Hospital after her return, she had the opportunity to assist patients and their families as they navigated the complex hospital environment. That experience piqued her interest in medicine and inspired her to become a physician. She completed her required premedical courses, followed by Medical School at Pacific Northwest College of Osteopathic Medicine in Washington. The end of her journey to become a physician was realized at the Alaska Family Medicine Residency Program at Providence where she graduated at the top of her class, June 2016. Dr. Ryan is known for her strong diagnostic skills and leadership working with a wide variety of specialists.
Like most Alaskans, Dr. Ryan enjoys many outdoor pursuits such as skiing, mountain biking, fishing, and trail running. She is always up for playing hockey and engaging in most physical activities, from skate boarding to cross country skiing. She also enjoys spending time with her son, traveling, theater, music, and art.
Dr. Ryan is currently accepting new patients.
