September – Childhood Obesity Awareness Month

Childhood obesity is a very big problem in the United States and we continue to work on the issue everyday. The best place to start is with our own families.

The issue begins with an unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity and poor eating habits. Families can work together to prevent or better this situation.

The risks of childhood obesity are fairly serious, including diabetes, high cholesterol, and early heart disease.

To prevent or diminish the effects of childhood obesity keep your family active. Do activities together and set goals. Cook healthy meals for your family and create a comfortable eating environment to reduce the risk of over or under eating.

If you believe your child is experiencing childhood obesity, discuss the issue with your family doctor for specific advice.
