Janelle Nakea, FNP-C
Born and raised in Anchorage, Janelle knew from an early age she wanted to care for those in need. She began her journey in medicine by attending AVTEC, a post-secondary vocational training center, where she received certification as a Nursing Assistant followed by licensure as a Practical Nurse. Continuing her education, Janelle later received a Bachelors in Nursing from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2014 followed by a Masters in Nursing Science in 2019.
While most her experience has involved work in an outpatient setting, Janelle spent time as a home health nurse where she provided one-on-one care to patients in the comfort of their own homes. Today, Janelle’s areas of clinical interest include preventative care and geriatrics. As part of the IPMS team, she strives to create a therapeutic relationship with all of her patients, providing guidance and support so they feel empowered to take control of their own care. She is a strong believer in the shared decision-making process and the development of individualized treatment plans.
Janelle loves traveling abroad to experience cultures different than her own. While home, her hobbies include hiking, biking, fishing, and snowboarding – she often brings her fur baby, Nala, along for the ride.
