How To Relieve Seasonal Allergies

Seasonal allergies can make the summer miserable for people of all ages, all over the world, and we know how important it is to get out for the summer here in Alaska! From the sneezing and sniffling, to the itchy eyes and scratchy throat, you probably won’t even want to go outside! So if we can offer you any tips on how to deal with the symptoms of seasonal allergies, we’re going to try to help you as best as we can!

Below are some tips on how to control your allergies:

Visit you doctor:

First of all, it is always a good idea to see your doctor if you are having allergy issues. You could need an allergy test to discover what exactly you are allergic to. They may suggest medications for you to take such as an inhaler or other allergy medication, whether it is over the counter or prescription.

Know what you’re allergic to:

Knowing what you’re allergic to, such as pollen or ragweed, will help you prepare for future allergy seasons. You can have your medications ready and you will be able to take care of your symptoms before they get too bad. You can check local news for pollen levels to stay up to date.

Protect yourself and your home:

If you must do yard work, wear a mask over your mouth and nose to prevent inhalation of the allergen. Wear sunglasses or protective eyewear to prevent the allergens from getting in your eyes. Wash your hair and clothing after coming back into your home. If you have pets, keep them inside or wash their fur if they do go outside, this will help keep your allergens from getting in your home and disturbing you even more!

You may think that since you had no allergies as a kid, you won’t have allergies as an adult, but that’s not necessarily true. Things do change and you could be experiencing allergies, even if you have never had any before.
