We understand aging can invite unwanted changes to our appearance. That’s why we’re proud to announce Natasha Sherrill, APRN, is ready to offer Botox treatments as the first in a range of exciting, new aesthetics services to help empower IPMS patients with a refreshed and youthful look.
Botox is the brand name of a neuromodulator that has been FDA-approved since 1989. Similar brands include Dysport and Xeomin. While widely known as a treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, these injectables can also be used to ease migraines, TMJ, and neck dystonia.
Once administered, neuromodulators block nerve signals to prevent muscle contraction. This leads to an extended period of muscle relaxation that allows the skin to remain smooth. Patients see results within a week of their first treatment, and these results typically last 3-4 months.
Most patients experience little-to-no discomfort during treatment, but pain tolerance does vary from person to person. Keeping this in mind, Natasha uses a vibrating tool and ice pack near the injection site to reduce the possibility of pain. Many patients receive treatment on their lunch hour and return to work after the appointment with no problem at all.
We understand this is often the biggest concern for those new to Botox injections.
While Natasha tailors treatment to the goals of each patient, she does her best to weaken and relax the targeted muscles only. After all, her goal is to make sure everyone leaves looking like a refreshed version of themselves.
While perfectly safe, neuromodulators like Botox are not recommended for patients who are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain neuromuscular diseases.
Common side effects include bruising, swelling, bleeding, redness, or tenderness near the injection sites. These side effects resolve themselves within a week.
