Specializing in Family and Aviation Medicine, Dr. Meinhardt has served Alaskan families and all classes of pilots for more than thirty years.
After obtaining his medical degree from the University of Kansas, Dr. Meinhardt continued his post-graduate studies at the Navy Regional Medical Center in Oakland, California, followed by his Aviation Medical Officer Training, Naval Aerospace Medicine Institute, Pensacola, Florida. Upon completion, he spent two years as Flight Surgeon and Chief of Clinical Service at Branch Hospital, Naval Station – Adak, Alaska.
Leaving Alaska only briefly, Dr. Meinhardt relocated to Idaho Falls, Idaho where he spent two years as Senior Medical Officer, Navy Nuclear Power School and served as an Emergency Room Physician at Parkside Hospital. After spending this time outside of Alaska, he returned to Anchorage to establish his private practice and enjoy the unique lifestyle offered by living in the forty-ninth state.
Dr. Meinhardt was one of the founding members of IPMS in 1984 and continues to focus his practice on comprehensive medical care for the entire family, as well as aviation medicine. He holds the designation of Senior Aviation Medical Examiner and performs all classes of FAA physicals.
In addition to his busy medical practice, Dr. Meinhardt has served as Chairman of the Family Practice Departments of both Providence and Alaska Regional Hospitals. He served on the Providence Hospital Medical Staff Executive Committee for three years, and is currently on staff at both Providence and Regional Hospitals.
Enjoying the exceptional opportunities of living in Alaska, Dr. Meinhardt is an avid outdoorsman. Any spare time is spent fishing, hunting, golfing, and flying throughout the Alaskan bush. In recent years, his enthusiasm for hunting has led him to Mongolia, Resolute Bay in Nunavuk, Canada, and multiple countries in Africa.
Dr. Meinhardt offers his patients a level of care that only experience can provide; he plans to continue serving his current and new patients for many years to come.
